Introduction
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) main campus is one of the most prominent and oldest center of computer education in the country. To meet the growing need of quality education for youth, UET established a branch of the department at the UET New Campus located in Kala Shah Kaku. The Department of Computer Science at the UET New Campus offers the undergraduate degree programs in Computer Science and in Software Engineering with an aim to train students in this domain.
Mission
To impart high quality computing education to the students in order to develop critical thinking, analytical skills and abilities to solve real-world problems for the technological and socio-economic development.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
- PEO1 – Computing Education and Application
Graduates demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of computer science to solve real-world complex problems.
- PEO2 – Professionalism, Leadership, Continuous Learning
Graduates demonstrate professionalism, leadership qualities and engage in continuous learning of new developments in diverse fields of computing.
- PEO3 – Teamwork, Communication, Ethics
Graduates communicate effectively work in a multidisciplinary team environment and exhibit an awareness of the professional and social responsibility by making an impact on the society in an ethical manner.
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
PLO-1 Academic Education: Completion of an accredited program of study designed to prepare graduates as computing professionals.
PLO-2 Knowledge for Solving Computing Problems: Apply knowledge of computing fundamentals, knowledge of a computing specialization, and mathematics, science, and domain knowledge appropriate for the computing specialization to the abstraction and conceptualization of computing models from defined problems and requirements.
PLO-3 Problem Analysis: Identify and solve complex computing problems reaching substantiated conclusions using fundamental principles of mathematics, computing sciences, and relevant domain disciplines.
PLO-4 Design/Development of Solutions: Design and evaluate solutions for complex computing problems, and design and evaluate systems, components, or processes that meet specified needs.
PLO-5 Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, or adapt and then apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern computing tools to complex computing activities, with an understanding of the limitations.
PLO-6 Individual, Teamwork and Project Management: Function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader of a team in multidisciplinary settings and perform project management activities.
PLO-7 Communication: Communicate effectively with the computing community about complex computing activities by being able to comprehend and write effective reports, design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and understand clear instructions.
PLO-8 Computing Professionalism and Society: Understand and assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues within local and global contexts, and the consequential responsibilities relevant to professional computing practice.
PLO-9 Ethics: Understand and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities, and norms of professional computing practice.
